John Chapter 6 verses 26-29 (NIV)
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
People may look for Jesus for many different reasons. People may do things for Jesus for different reasons too.
For those of us who have already decided to follow Jesus, we must be careful that we only do the work that God requires of us, not necessarily what we think would be a good idea. Therefore we only learn what God requires of us by being faithful to the teachings of Jesus and being guided by the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord,
May I be faithful in doing Your work through the direction of the Holy Spirit. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
