John Chapter 11 verses 7-10 (NIV)
and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.” “But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?” Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light. It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”
When Jesus said to His disciples, “let’s go to Judea, they were concerned about what they might face. But Jesus encouraged them. They would be walking in the light – they were going with Jesus, not in their own strength. After all, did Jesus not tell them,”I am the light of the world.”
Jesus never said that we would never have to face difficult times. We may have to go to places where we would rather be anywhere else. But look at what Jesus said to His disciples. He said, “Let’s go…” He wasn’t just sending them, He was going with them.
Remember Jesus also said that He would be with us always until the end of the age. We have the Holy Spirit ourselves to lead and guide us. Providing we “walk in the light as He is in the light” we have no reason for concern.
Dear Lord,
May I always be willing to go where You lead, led by Your light. May I never be tempted to go off under my own steam. I ask in Your Name. Amen.
