10 June 2026 – What have I learned today?

Acts chapter 6 verses 9-10 (NIV)

Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia —who began to argue with Stephen.  But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.

Following on from yesterday, here we see a man who would be the first Christian martyr, speak boldly and wisely under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. No one could stand against the words he spoke. So they resorted to lies, and ultimately stoned him.

Sometimes when people see that they cannot change our faith in God, or stop us from doing God’s will, they will become jealous and resort to underhand means to get their way. We shouldn’t be surprised by this type of reaction, for is this not how Satan himself behaves?

We must in such circumstances put our hope and trust in God so that we can face whatever the outcome of such behaviour will be.

Dear Lord,

Help me remember that Your ways are higher than mine. Help me to be a willing vessel even in trying times. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
