Luke Chapter 6: Verses 38-40 (NLT Translation)
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch? Studentsare not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.”
God always gives generously. And Jesus was teaching His disciples how important it was to do the same. And since God is no man’s debtor, He gives back to us so much more than we give to Him and to others.
And Jesus wants us to learn from His example. The secret of good teaching is to pass on our skills and knowledge so that others can put them into use for themselves. The more we put His teaching into practice, the more like Him we will become. We can all remember those teachers who had an impact on us, whether it was at school, or whether it was a work colleague that we looked up to. But Jesus is the best teacher of all and there is no greater example for us to follow.
Dear Lord,
Help me to spend more time learning from Jesus so that I can become more like Him. I ask in His Name and for Your Glory. Amen.
