22 June 2026 – What have I learned today?

Acts chapter 15 verses 10 – 11 (NIV)

“Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?  No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Philippians chapter 4 verse 9 (NIV)

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Similar to the portion I read on Saturday, today’s portion in Acts is a reminder not to put an unnecessary pressure on new or young Christians, and allow God to direct their steps.

That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t lead by example, providing that we ourselves are walking close to God. Can we truly echo Paul’s word to the Philippians church? If not, then we need to put things right in our own life before we try and direct anyone else’s. It makes us realise how gracious God is not to have put unnecessary burdens on the new Gentiles believers and on us.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the grace You show towards us in our weakness. Help me to do likewise for others. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
