27 June 2026 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 78 verses 22-27 (NIV)

for they did not believe in God

   or trust in his deliverance.

Yet he gave a command to the skies above

   and opened the doors of the heavens;

 he rained down manna for the people to eat,

   he gave them the grain of heaven.

Human beings ate the bread of angels;

   he sent them all the food they could eat.

He let loose the east wind from the heavens

   and by his power made the south wind blow.

 He rained meat down on them like dust,

   birds like sand on the seashore.

Psalm 78 gives a summarised history and in this portion we read of the people’s refusal to believe in or trust God. But one word shows us God’s character and His love for His people – the word ‘yet’. In spite of the way Israel treated Him, God provided manna and meat, and continued to do so for forty years, and beyond.

It made me reflect on all the times I haven’t been obedient and when I too have gone my own way. I also have experience and grace that comes with God’s ‘yet’ and I thank Him for it.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for reminding me that even in the midst of wrong decisions and actions, in Your mercy there is always a ‘yet’. Thank You. Amen.
