5 July 2026 – What have I learned today?

Acts chapter 24 verse 22 (NIV)

Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way, adjourned the proceedings.

Acts Chapter 24 verse 25 (NIV)

As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”

Felix was well acquainted with the teachings about Jesus we’re told. However, when it came down to putting those teachings into practice and what is required in the Christian life, that was a different matter; Felix didn’t like it and he sent Paul away. Sadly, though he sent for Paul often, Felix never changed.

It’s a reminder that it’s not being acquainted with what the Bible teaches that counts. It’s about knowing Jesus and putting into practice what the Bible teaches that is the most important thing. It makes me sad to think of people who may well be acquainted with the teachings of the Bible but have not allowed Jesus to make a difference in their lives. We need to pray for them.

Dear Lord,

It’s not enough for me to know Your Word, I need to do what it says otherwise my life doesn’t change. Help me to put in practice what I read. Lord for those who are familiar with the Bible, may it transform their lives too. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
