Numbers Chapter 33: Verse 3 (NLT Translation)

They set out from the city of Rameses in early spring—on the fifteenth day of the first month—on the morning after the first Passover celebration. The people of Israel left defiantly, in full view of all the Egyptians.

The Israelites set off in the right fettle, but had a good few detours on the way, mainly because they were good at moaning, and didn’t always do what they were told. (Sounds a bit like me!) but under God’s guidance they got to their destination. Life is like that though, we set off in a particular direction, full of enthusiasm but sometimes, in the face of difficult circumstances, we can lose that initial spark, and feel sorry for ourselves. That holds up our progress though, doesn’t it?

We would get on so much better without moaning and complaining, and things would be more straightforward if we would just follow God’s directions. In spite of all the delays and detours, thankfully God doesn’t give up on us, and if we renew our focus we will get where He always intended us to be. The most important thing is, as the old song says, “Its not where you start its where you finish!”

Dear Lord,

Help me not to lose my focus on my life journey, but to follow Your directions , and to face my difficulties defiantly if needs be. I ask in Jesus’ Name. AMEN
