1 Chronicles chapter 15 verses 28-29 (NIV)
So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps. As the ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
We are told in these verses that all Israel, including David, brought up the Ark to Jerusalem with great rejoicing and praise. All. It seems except Michal, David’s wife who watched from a distance from a window.. She was nor part of the celebration just a far off bystander so she didn’t understand it and despised her husband for leading the celebration.
When we stand apart from what God is doing in the church today and don’t get wholeheartedly involved, we too can quickly distain what’s happening. God doesn’t want us to watch from a distance, He wants us to be in the centre of things – the safest and best place for us to be!
Dear Lord,
Thank You that your desire for me is to be right in the centre of what You’re doing and never a bystander watching from afar. Help me follow David’s example rather than Michal’s I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen
