Ecclesiastes chapter 12 verses 13 and 14 (NIV)
Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the duty of all mankind.
For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
This is Solomon’s conclusion after trying many different ways to find happiness. Surely this is indeed true wisdom. However the record of his life suggests that he didn’t wholeheartedly follow his own advice. This is something we too need to be mindful of. We need to live out what we say. How many times have we heard someone say, albeit in jest, “Do as I say but don’t do as I do.”
When we live out the truth as well as sharing it, then we really will make an impact.
Dear Lord,
Help me learn from where Solomon went wrong. Help me be wholehearted in following You. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
