2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 21 (NIV)
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Ever since I was a young Christian, I have always thought it was much harder for a “good” person to accept that they too have a need for God. Paul explained to the Roman Church that, “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;” (Romans chapter 3 verse 10.)
He also then explained to the Corinthians church that the only way we can be considered righteous is if we accept the righteousness of Christ because He paid the price for our sin. We can then put on His righteousness like a garment because that’s what God always had planned for us. We read in Isaiah 61:10 –
I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Surely then that is cause for rejoicing just as Isaiah says?

Thank You for adoring us in the richness of Yourself and Your righteousness, when mine is as filthy rags. Amen.
