Galatians chapter 5 verse 6 (NIV)
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Paul is very clear to the Galatians that it doesn’t matter who you are, or into which family you were born. The only thing that matters is faith in the Lord Jesus.
It’s just as important to me also apply this teaching, not only to who we are, but also to the things that we do. God doesn’t expect us to be rushing around doing everything. It doesn’t make us a better Christian if we do.
It’s also important to note how this verse ends. Our faith should be expressed in love, not just duty. That makes a big difference.
Dear Lord,
Help me to remember that true faith is a gift from You. Help me to use it properly and with love. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
