Isaiah chapter 52 verses 1-2 (NIV)
Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendour,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Some people put a lot of thought about what they are going to wear in the morning, and some don’t.
It’s a challenge from Isaiah that we rise up and clothe ourselves with strength. Indeed he says that we have garments of splendour. But it’s not with our own strength we should do so, neither is it with expensive clothing.
We will be freed from our chains if we do as Paul told the Roman Church – we clothe ourselves with Christ. That not only breaks the chains from off our necks, but hopefully means we reflect Christ in all His glory.
Dear Lord,
Help me to clothe myself with Your strength, and with the garments of Christ. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
