10 April 2023- What have I learned today?

Luke Chapter 13: Verses 22-25

Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem.  Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” He replied, “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’”

As Jesus continued His journey, teaching as He went, He kept His focus on the call that He had, His ultimate sacrifice in Jerusalem, and pressed towards it. When He reminds people here to work hard to enter the narrow door, He isn’t teaching that we will be saved through the work that we do; rather that we should be like Him and keep our focus on what we have been called to do.

We owe Him such a debt of gratitude that we should never be half-hearted in doing what God asks of us. And as I learned yesterday, God will give us the strength to do His will, but we should make sure that we do it wholeheartedly.

Dear Lord,

Please help me to be wholehearted in doing Your will, and to keep my focus on what You require. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
