Psalm 119 verses 137-144 (NIV)
You are righteous, LORD,
and your laws are right.
The statutes you have laid down are righteous;
they are fully trustworthy.
My zeal wears me out,
for my enemies ignore your words.
Your promises have been thoroughly tested,
and your servant loves them.
Though I am lowly and despised,
I do not forget your precepts.
Your righteousness is everlasting
and your law is true.
Trouble and distress have come upon me,
but your commands give me delight.
Your statutes are always righteous;
give me understanding that I may live.
We know that we are never promised an easy life when we decide to follow Jesus. Those we know and love may decide not to join us in following Jesus. But we can testify like the psalmist that even when God’s promises have been thoroughly tested, they have not been found wanting. We can therefore hold onto whatever God says regardless of our circumstances. Thank God His ways are always just and right. May we be quick to follow them regardless of what anyone else is doing.
Dear Lord,
May I be faithful in keeping to Your ways, even if like the psalmist, trouble and distress may come upon me. I know Your promises are Yes and amen. Praise Your Holy Name. Amen.
