3 June 2023 – What have I learned today?

Acts Chapter 1: Verses 6-7 (NLT)

So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom? “He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.

Now that Jesus had risen, His disciples expected Israel’s oppression to end and God’s Kingdom to come. They kept asking, “Is it now?” But Jesus told them that His Father God would move in His own time, not theirs. They had to learn that God’s plans and timescales are different from ours.

We too can get the wrong perception about God’s plans and purposes for us. We often ask, “Is it now, Lord?” – Just like an impatient child. But God wants us to wait in anticipation for God to out work His plans for us. He may choose to tell us the timescale, He may not. He doesn’t have to, He’s God. The Disciples began to wait by gathering together in prayer and worship. That’s a good thing for us to do too while we wait. It would certainly ensure that we don’t get discouraged whilst we’re waiting.

Dear Lord,

Your timing is perfect, and it’s not the same as mine. Thank You for everything You want me to learn from You whilst I’m waiting for the outworking of Your plans. Help me not to get impatient. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
