2 Kings Chapter 12: Verse 2 (NLT)
All his life Joash did what was pleasing in the LORD’s sight because Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
Joash received mentoring and encouragement from Jehoiada the priest which impacted how he lived his life. We should never underestimate the positive influence that we can have over those that we come into contact with.
Sometimes that influence is deliberate; we may take someone under our wing to support and encourage them. I have been very fortunate in my life to have both a spiritual mentor, and someone at work from whom I learned much about how to manage and support others. I know the difference that their support has made to me.
Sometimes, however, it may just be the example we show in the way that we lead our daily life. I’m very aware that people observe our conduct even if we don’t realise they’re watching us. Imagine the positive influence we can make to someone as a good example of a follower of Jesus.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for those You have used to be a good influence to me throughout my life. I’m truly grateful for their encouragement and support. Help me, as a good ambassador of Jesus, to be an encouragement and support to others as You direct. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
