17 July 2023 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 86: Verses 5-7 (NLT Translation)

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
    so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
    hear my urgent cry.
 I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
    and you will answer me.

There is so much publicity these days about the need for inclusion in all walks of live. Many people see the Church, or sometimes in some instances, God Himself, as actually not being very inclusive at all. But David shows us in this Psalm that the very notion of inclusiveness comes from God Himself.

Often our problem is that we expect God to respond on our terms, not His, but we must always remember that it is God who is the Creator of all of us, not us. We’re the ones who have strayed from the path that God intended for us. But God will always welcome us back. He only needs us to ask and His ear is ever open, even to the weakest cry.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful that it’s Your kindness that leads us to repentance. Help me to show that same kindness to all who need Your grace and love. There is no greater example than Jesus Himself. I ask in His Name. Amen.
