1 Chronicles Chapter 18: Verses 11-13 (NIV)
King David dedicated these articles to the LORD, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek. Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became subject to David. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
God gave David victory and prosperity as He had promised. But David was careful to give God His due, even when it came to the wealth he had received as gifts or tributes from other lands. He did not forget that it was God who directed his steps.
When things are going well for us, it is important that we too never forget to give God His due, be it with our time, our talents or our finances. Often when things are going well, we can be guilty of forgetting to give God the thanks and praise that He deserves. That is just as important, if not more so, as when we draw near to Him when we are struggling.
Dear Lord,
I am so grateful for all Your care and provision. May I never forget whose hand directs my path, in both good times and bad, and never take Your goodness for granted. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
