1 Corinthians Chapter 7: Verse 7 (NIV)
I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
Paul had a specific calling from God, and he faithfully followed the path God had planned for him. He was dedicated and steadfast. Whilst he wished that everyone could be as single-minded as he was, he recognised that each of us is unique, with a God-given path marked out for us too.
We aren’t all going to have the same strengths and talents, nor for that matter weaknesses. The things that cause me to trip up may be no issue to someone else. We should never expect someone to travel the same road as us, unless God leads them in that direction.
However, those of us who follow Jesus can at least pray that those who cross our path may be encouraged by our example, and invite Jesus to be their guide along the way.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that You have a path marked out for each of us. We are not in competition with anyone else. The path we tread is uniquely ours. I’m grateful to have Jesus as my guide on the path, and the help of the Holy Spirit to ensure that I don’t wander off in the wrong direction. Amen.
