Psalm 100: Verses 2-3 (NLT)
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
As Christians, when we come before God in worship, it should never be half-hearted. It’s an opportunity to come before God and offer Him the thanks and praise that He truly deserves, yet too often our minds are processing 101 things at once. I’m sure that it’s not just me. I/we need to work on our focus.
I do enjoy singing, even if I’m not gifted at it, so the opportunity on a Sunday to join with like-minded Christians is the chance to, using an old-fashioned Scottish phrase, “give it laldy.” David reminds us in the psalm to remember and acknowledge that God made us, but He also looks after us as a good shepherd would look after his sheep. That should always make us glad and ensure that our praise is half-hearted.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for being my shepherd; guiding, directing and protecting me in the way I should go. That is indeed real cause for praise and thanksgiving. Help me to do so with joy and gladness in my heart. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
