Galatians Chapter 6: Verses 9-10 (NIV)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

It’s easy to get weary and down hearted if we don’t see any outcome for the things we’re doing, we don’t get a response, or we think no one has even noticed. The important thing that I always forget is that God’s timing is not the same as ours. The key phrase for me in verse 9 of this chapter is, …”at the proper time. Naturally speaking we would not try to harvest crops before they’re ready. That would only waste them and they’d be no use to anyone.

So we need to persevere, even if that means waiting. So perhaps the best thing to do while we’re waiting is to follow the advice Paul gives in verse 10 – to take the opportunity to do something good and kind for someone else. That’s a good way to stop us becoming fed up and weary, whilst we are waiting for God’s next instruction and direction for our lives.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful that You never grow weary, nor do You waste time – You always move at the proper time. Help me make best use of my waiting time, and at the same time benefit others while I do. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
