25 September 2023 – What have I learned today?

Isaiah Chapter 61: Verse 11 (NIV)

For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow,
so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness
and praise spring up before all nations.

John Chapter 15: Verse 1 (NIV)

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.”

Seeds and plants will grow well if they are looked after, weeded, watered and maybe even pruned. They won’t grow if they’re not watered or are neglected. God wants to look after our lives, and that includes our spiritual ones. He will tend us, feed us, and if necessary, prune us. Plants left to their own devices may grow for a while, but without proper care they will not thrive as they should.

God will leave us to our own devices, if that’s what we choose, and for a while we might be okay, but without Him in our lives we will not thrive as we should. If we let Him take care of us we need never worry about how we will grow and how He will use us, we just need to put ourselves into His hands and let Him take care of the rest.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that Jesus is the true vine, and You are the gardener. Thank You for grafting me into the vine. Help me to trust the way that You tend my life. May it grow as it should to reflect Your righteousness. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
