Deuteronomy chapter 15 verse 10 (NIV)

11 April 2025 – What have I learned today?

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.

Deuteronomy chapters 14 and 15 reminds the Israelites of the goodness of God and instructs them to write off debts every seven years, but also to remember to be thankful and generous to others in return. But as always, God knew their hearts and warned them that they needed to be careful to do so without a grudging heart.

When we do anything with a grudging heart and drag our feet, it usually means we are not putting our all into whatever it is, and therefore not as well as we could our should. What Moses taught the people that is recorded in Deuteronomy was to remember all that God had done for them. Surely that would make them be grateful and generous?

We too have so much to thank God for and when we take the time to remember and reflect, then we too should be to do wholeheartedly what God asks of us without dragging our feet and be generous as we do, for God has withheld no good thing from us.

Dear Lord,

I give You thanks and praise for Your goodness. Let me prove my thankfulness by a willing and generous heart and total obedience. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
