The Bible says that,” the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Hebrews 4 :12)
At the start of 2021, newly retired and starting a New Year in lockdown due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, I decided to test that out. I follow Nicky Gumbel’s “Bible in One Year” daily reading plan, but decided to open myself up to whether a portion of the daily reading would jump out at me, and then I could consider its application to my life. At the end of the year I had a notebook full of lessons and prayers. I repeated the exercise in 2022, and ended that year with 365 different verses, notes and prayers. The writer of Hebrews is right!
So, the blog was formally started in 2023 and carried on in 2024. Now in 2025 I will continue to share the verses, and my thoughts and prayers on this wee blog. I hope that like me, you will find them helpful. My prayer however is that they will encourage you to start your own journey through the bible to see what God wants to teach you. So, here we go on this year’s adventure…
